Why and when may a polyester sleeve be necessary |
|
| A. |
 The polyester sleeve is necessary when using a Vidar scanner to digitize EBT film. The rollers of the Vidar scanner cause characteristic contrast bands to appear on the leading and trailing edge of the digitized EBT images. This polyester sleeve is designed to extend the edges of the EBT film so that the orientation of the film (with respect to the light source and CCD array of the scanner) remain constant through out the entire scan.
